GemPages has a page for this exact job. It is headlined "Advertorial & Listicle made easy," and it lists what you get: Hero Image & Lead Design, a Transformation Section, a How to Use Section, a Sticky Product Section, Choose Your Template, Customize Your Own, Split Test for Success. Read the list twice and notice the gap. Every item is a container. None of them is the writing.
That gap is why teams shop around, and it is the axis this comparison runs on: what actually lands in your account when the tool is finished. The six alternatives below are the realistic replacements for that job: PageFly, EComposer, Zipify Pages, Shogun, PagePilot and Landra. Every figure here was read from the vendor's own pricing page or Shopify App Store listing on 3 and 4 September 2026. One caveat on sourcing, stated up front: every source on this page is one of those two, a vendor claim or a merchant review. We found no independent, method-published testing of any of these tools, so nothing below rests on a benchmark.
One scope note. This is about page tools for advertorials, listicles and pre-sell pages. If you came to GemPages for its post-purchase upsell funnel, that is a different shortlist, and Shopify funnel builders covers it.
Why DTC teams look for a GemPages alternative

Four reasons come up: charges landing after uninstall, code left behind in the theme, the $29 to $59 price step, and a learning curve. Quality is not one of them. GemPages rates 4.9 on the Shopify App Store across 4,203 reviews as of September 2026, and 4,040 of them, roughly 96%, are five-star. Fifty-seven are one-star. Everything below is a merchant allegation we could not independently verify, dated as posted.
- Billing after uninstall. A US merchant posting as Rodmans wrote in April 2026: "I installed the app and deleted it less than 48 hours later and they charged me $61.80." Two App Store reviews describe that sequence, both posted in April 2026.
- Code left in the theme. A US reviewer wrote in April 2024, in caps: "INSTALLS CODE AND DOES NOT GET REMOVED WHEN YOU UNINSTALL THE APP." One Romanian merchant tied that to speed in August 2025, about a year in: "my site slow down and to load my product page takes 15-20 sec... my template disorted if I wanted to uninstall." That is a single review. We could not find an independent, method-published measurement of what GemPages adds to a page, so treat both as claims a merchant made and nobody has checked.
- The price step. A Canadian merchant rated it two stars in July 2026 with a fair summary: "The app is great. But its super expensive. $59USD a month is currently $89 CDN a month."
- Learnability. A US reviewer of more than two years wrote in August 2025 that "User navigation is confusing, loading time takes awhile... any of my unsaved work did not auto-save."

The structural reasons matter more than the reviews. Build at $29/mo carries a line reading "Post-purchased upsell volume: $100 per month". That is a ceiling on the money your offers earn in a month, and crossing it costs you the plan however few pages you have built. Optimize at $59/mo replaces it with "Unlimited revenue from offer" and "Pay commission as you grow." Enterprise at $199/mo says "No commission fee, forever." GemPages does not publish the commission rate anywhere we could find, so a brand whose post-purchase offers are working has to price that unknown into the $29 to $59 step. Split testing sits on the same step: the pricing page lists "Offer A/B Testing" under Optimize and Enterprise, not under Build. There is a 30-day money-back guarantee on paid plans.
What to evaluate for advertorial and listicle pages

Five things decide it when the page is an advertorial and not a product page: what the tool hands back when it finishes, what its AI actually returns, which tier unlocks split testing, how published pages are capped, and what happens to your theme on uninstall. The first one reorders most shortlists on its own, and the AI marketing is very good at hiding it.
- What you get back. A builder returns a template and a canvas. The layout is solved, the writing is not, and on a long-form pre-sell page the writing is most of the work. Sort the field by that before you compare price.
- What the AI actually does. "AI page builder" covers three unrelated jobs: making a layout, writing a section, and writing the page. The distance between them is the whole comparison.
- Split testing, and which tier it starts on. Advertorial angles win by iteration. Testing lives a tier above the entry plan on GemPages and EComposer, and in a second app on Shogun, so a sticker price is rarely the price of testing.
- Published pages, slots and caps. Entry tiers cap what you can have live. PageFly meters slots, Zipify caps page counts, Shogun caps published pages, and free tiers mostly cannot publish at all.
- What happens when you uninstall. Page builders inject theme code. Ask what comes out, and duplicate the theme first.
Here is what sits behind that phrase for each tool. Vendor's own claim first, then the unit its AI actually works in and how that unit is rationed.
| Tool | What the vendor claims | The unit its AI works in | What is still yours |
|---|---|---|---|
| GemPages | GemAI Image-to-Layout turns an image, a URL or a Figma export into an editable layout; an AI content generator writes copy from your prompt and a tone | A section or a layout, metered: 100 rewrites/month on Build | Angle, narrative order, proof placement |
| PageFly | Listing sells an "AI page builder" with AI page and section generation | A section or a layout, on credits: 10 free | Angle, narrative order, proof placement |
| EComposer | Listing sells an "AI Page Builder: layout builder, AI search optimize, image & content generator" | A section or a layout, on credits: 50 free | Angle, narrative order, proof placement |
| Zipify Pages | Listing shows an "AI Copywriter" tile; zipify.com's own pricing page makes no AI copy claim | Not published, so unclear | Assume the page until you have tested it |
| Shogun | An AI section builder | A section on request | Angle, narrative order, proof placement |
| PagePilot | Headline: "AI Product Pages, AI Images, 8+ CRO Templates". A separate bullet: "copy, layout & sections done for you" | A complete product page | The advertorial, if that is the format you need |
| Landra | Reads your brand URL, analyzes the brand and its products, writes the advertorial or listicle: copy, section order and images | A complete advertorial or listicle | Edits, and the audience you name going in |
One detail on the GemPages row is worth quoting instead of summarizing. Its pricing page meters the copy tool as "AI Generated content: 100 rewrites/month" on Build and 200 on Optimize; its help documentation describes that same tool as generating a section "from scratch" from your prompt. Those two labels describe different products, and GemPages has not reconciled them publicly. Either way the unit is a section, and the section is metered.
Landra sits at the far end of that axis, where the unit is the finished page instead of the section.
The alternatives compared
The six below cover the range a GemPages shortlist actually needs: cheaper Shopify-native builders, a CRO platform, a dropshipping product-page generator, and a generator that writes the page. GemPages sits in the table as the incumbent so you can see the gaps in both directions.

Read the A/B row before anything else, because the incumbent loses it. GemPages lists "Offer A/B Testing" under Optimize at $59 and Enterprise at $199, one tier above the $29 Build plan its own pricing page marks Recommended. Zipify Pages carries split testing on its $19 cheapest paid plan, the clean case. PageFly depends on where you read it: on its listing, $24; on its own site, $39 Optimize. Either way it undercuts $59 at GemPages, but plan on the higher figure. Landra does not offer testing at any tier. If running two angles against each other inside one tool is your constraint, that row settles the shortlist before price does.
Two names you will see on other lists and not in this table. Replo publishing starts at $119/mo on its App Store listing, with 15 published items and $99/mo per extra store, rated 4.6 across 188 reviews as of September 2026 (our Replo alternatives guide reads $99 as of June 2026; the App Store listing says $119 as of September, and we have not been able to reconcile the two). Either figure prices it out of the GemPages intent. Liquiflow markets itself straight at the leftover-code complaint, quoting a user who says GemPages left "ghost code" all over their theme after uninstall, which is a competitor's claim about a competitor. It publishes no pricing and we could not confirm it on the App Store, so it stays out.
PageFly

PageFly is the straight swap when the $29 to $59 GemPages step is the problem, and it has the largest review base of any builder here. Builder is $24/mo. Where A/B testing starts is the part to check yourself, because PageFly's two primary sources disagree. Its Shopify App Store listing puts "A/B Testing" inside Builder at $24/mo. Its own pricing page shows a tier the listing omits, Optimize at $39/mo, and lists A/B Testing under Optimize's AI CRO modules rather than under Builder. We could not reconcile them, so budget $39 and treat $24 as the optimistic read. Either figure still lands under GemPages: $35 cheaper at the listing price, $20 cheaper at the site price, against the $59 plan that tests. You get 320+ templates and AI credits, and you assemble the page yourself.
The catch is the pricing shape. PageFly meters published slots, "From 05 published slots" with $5 per five extra, and the ladder on pagefly.io runs Free $0, Builder $24 for 5 to 15 pages on a slider, Optimize $39 for 20 to 75, Accelerate $99 unlimited, Power $199, Enterprise from $299. A brand running many live campaign pages walks up that ladder fast. Model your real page count before you compare stickers.
PageFly
- A/B testing costs $24 on the App Store listing or $39 on pagefly.io, under the $59 GemPages plan either way
- 320+ templates plus AI credits on every plan
- Free tier publishes one slot with 10 AI credits
- Priced by published slots, so high page volume walks toward the $99 unlimited plan, and the two pricing sources disagree on where A/B testing starts
EComposer

EComposer is the pick if you want to feel out AI-assisted building before paying. The free tier includes 50 AI credits against PageFly's 10, and Standard is $25/mo. In practice it is a templates-plus-metered-AI builder in the same shape as GemPages, at a slightly lower floor.
The honest limit is testing: A/B is gated to the $49 Pro tier, so a brand that iterates advertorial angles pays $49, not $25. That is above PageFly's tested price on either reading of it, $24 or $39, and $10 under the $59 Optimize plan where GemPages keeps its own split testing, which is the step you were trying to avoid.
EComposer
- 50 AI credits on the free tier, the most of any builder here
- Standard at $25/mo with templates plus metered AI tools
- 4.9 stars across 3,486 Shopify reviews
- A/B testing is gated to the $49 Pro tier
Zipify Pages

Zipify Pages ties Landra at $19/mo for the cheapest paid entry here, and the reason to take it seriously is that split testing sits in tier one per zipify.com's pricing page (September 2026). Its templates carry an unusual pedigree claim: "Born from 10 years of split-tests on our $180 million Shopify store", which is a vendor claim about the team's own store, unverified by us but at least specific about where the layouts came from.
Starter is hard-capped: 5 landing pages, 1 product page, 1 blog article. That is enough to run a campaign and not enough to run a page program. The free tier needs the same care, because the two surfaces disagree: the App Store listing says "Free plan available. Free trial available," while zipify.com's own pricing page scopes the free tier to development stores, so plan on $19 for a live store until Zipify says otherwise. The AI story splits the same way. The listing shows an "AI Copywriter" tile and zipify.com makes no AI copy claim, so what it covers is unclear. Budget for writing the advertorial yourself until you have tested it.
Zipify Pages
- $19/mo entry, tied with Landra, with split testing from tier one
- Templates built from a long-running split-test program on the vendor's own store (vendor claim)
- 4.7 stars across 422 Shopify reviews
- Starter is hard-capped at 5 landing pages, 1 product page and 1 blog article
Shogun

Shogun asks more of you than GemPages does, in money and in process. It is built for teams who treat conversion work as a program with owners and a calendar, and it is the only option here that also supports BigCommerce. Build is $39/mo and includes an AI section builder.
Two caps to know. Published pages stop at 25 on Build, with unlimited on the $199 Grow tier. And A/B testing is not in this app at all: the listing points you to "our separate app — Shogun AB Testing", so the tool that is otherwise the most CRO-serious option here is also the one where testing is a second install and a second line on the bill. If a GemPages bill at $59 already felt heavy, Shogun's full shape will feel heavier. It earns that price for a brand with someone whose actual job is CRO.
Shogun
- Runs on Shopify and BigCommerce, the only tool here that does
- AI section builder plus a CRO-oriented feature set
- Free draft mode to build and preview before paying
- A/B testing is a separate app (Shogun AB Testing), and Build caps at 25 published pages
PagePilot

PagePilot hands back a whole page, which is why it belongs on the list even though it is aimed at a different buyer. Its listing sells "AI Product Pages, AI Images, 8+ CRO Templates" and promises "copy, layout & sections done for you" in under a minute. Dropshippers use it to stand up product pages fast. Lite is $39/mo.
The shape is the limit. A generated product page is a product page: hero, benefits, reviews, buy box. An advertorial is a different document with a different job, and PagePilot's free plan cannot publish or even import products to your store, so evaluating it means paying first.
PagePilot
- Hands back a finished product page, copy and layout included
- Ships AI images alongside the copy
- 4.8 stars across 170 Shopify reviews
- Builds product pages; an advertorial is a different document. The free plan cannot publish or import products
Landra

Landra is the option that answers the first evaluation question differently. Give it your product or brand URL and it analyzes your brand and products to understand them, then writes the full advertorial or listicle: the narrative copy, the section order and the images, in DTC conversion components, tuned to the audience you name. What opens in the click-anything editor is a finished page, placeholder text already replaced. Publishing goes to a connected Shopify store, a hosted Landra URL or an HTML export.
Three honest limits. Scope first: Landra has no checkout, no order bumps, no post-purchase upsells, no A/B testing, and it will not theme your storefront. If the reason you are on GemPages is the upsell funnel or one app for every page type, a builder is the right tool and this is not it. Volume second: the $19 Starter tier holds one stored page and two page generations a month, which buys a campaign, not a program. Running several angles a month means Pro. Track record third: Landra is listed on the Shopify App Store and, as of September 2026, that listing carries zero reviews. GemPages has 4,203, PageFly 5,894. Every other tool on this page has years of merchant feedback you can read before you install. Landra is new, and a new listing is exactly as informative as it sounds.
Landra
- Writes the complete advertorial or listicle from your brand URL, tuned to the audience you name
- AI images and multiple headline options during the 14-day trial and on Pro
- Publishes to Shopify, a hosted URL or an HTML export
- Starter is 1 stored page and 2 generations a month; several angles means Pro at $79/mo. No checkout, upsells or A/B testing
How to choose, by the job in front of you
Start from what you are missing. Missing a cheaper builder with testing included: PageFly, at $24 on its listing or $39 on its own site. Missing a bigger AI allowance to try before paying: EComposer's 50 free credits. Missing split testing on a $19 budget: Zipify Pages. Missing a CRO platform with real process behind it: Shogun, plus its separate testing app. Missing dropshipping product pages at speed: PagePilot. Missing the long-form pre-sell page itself, the thing you keep meaning to write: that is the job Landra was built for, and the best advertorial software judges the whole field on that one format if you want the longer read.
Staying is also a real answer. GemPages is worth keeping if you use the post-purchase upsell funnel it builds in, if you need one app that handles every page type on the store, or if your offer revenue is large enough that Enterprise's "No commission fee, forever" line pays for itself. The alternatives above beat it on specific jobs and none of them beats it everywhere.
Where Landra fits for advertorials and listicles
Landra is a specialist, and that is the point. It does two formats, the advertorial and the listicle, which are the two that carry cold Meta and TikTok traffic to a product page that would otherwise ask a stranger to buy. The format's best practices are built into how it generates, so the first draft already has the shape of a page that converts. A blank canvas has to earn that shape one section at a time.
The comparison it loses is control, and testing. A designer who wants to place every section by hand will be happier in PageFly or Shogun, a brand whose real need is a post-purchase funnel should stay where the funnel is, and a team that runs formal A/B tests needs a tool that has them. The comparison it wins is the one this whole page is about: what lands in your account. On price, read it the way you read Zipify's. Starter is $19/mo for one stored page and two page generations a month, with AI images, AI section writing and multiple headline options included during the 14-day trial and Pro-only after it. Pro is $79/mo for 10 stored pages and 20 generations, Pro Plus $199/mo for 100 and 100. There is no free tier.
Which GemPages alternative should you pick?
There is no single winner here, and staying put is legitimate. Route by the bottleneck: a cheaper builder with A/B testing included is PageFly, at $24 on its App Store listing or $39 on pagefly.io, split testing on the smallest budget is Zipify Pages at $19, a real CRO program across Shopify and BigCommerce is Shogun, and the advertorial or listicle written, structured and illustrated for you is Landra at $19 (one page) or $79 (ten). Keep GemPages if the post-purchase upsell funnel is why you installed it, and budget for Optimize at $59 if you also want its split testing.
Try LandraWhichever way you go, the format still has to do its job: a real angle, honest proof, an ad disclosure, and a page fast enough for cold traffic on a phone. No tool on this list supplies those four. For the wider Shopify field, the best Shopify landing page builders covers every page type rather than this one.
Disclosure: Landra is our own product, so treat this as an informed but interested take. Competitor details are drawn from public information as of September 2026. Spot something out of date? Tell us.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best GemPages alternative?
There is no single winner. PageFly has the largest install base and a page ladder that grows past five pages, though its A/B testing costs $24 to $39 depending on which PageFly page you believe, EComposer gives the most AI credits per dollar at the low end, Zipify Pages splits tests from tier one at $19 inside a hard cap of five landing pages, Shogun suits a real CRO program, PagePilot generates dropshipping product pages, and Landra writes the advertorial or listicle itself. Pick by the job.
Does GemPages write advertorials for you?
Not the whole page. GemPages ships an advertorial and listicle template set plus GemAI, which turns an image, a URL or a Figma export into an editable layout, and an AI content generator that produces one section of copy at a time from a prompt you write. The angle, the narrative order and where the proof lands are still yours.
Does GemPages include A/B testing on its $29 plan?
No. As of September 2026 the GemPages pricing page lists "Offer A/B Testing" under Optimize at $59/mo and Enterprise at $199/mo, so the $29 Build plan does not include it. Zipify Pages splits tests from its $19 Starter tier, and PageFly includes A/B testing at $24 to $39 depending on which PageFly page you believe: its App Store listing puts A/B Testing on Builder at $24, its own pricing page puts it on an Optimize tier at $39 that the listing does not show. Both are still under the GemPages tier that tests.
Is there a cheaper alternative to GemPages?
Yes. As of September 2026 Zipify Pages starts at $19/mo, capped at 5 landing pages, and Landra at $19/mo, capped at one stored page and two generations a month, on a 14-day trial with no free tier. GemPages Build is $29/mo, PageFly $24, EComposer $25. GemPages does have a free plan that publishes one page, which neither $19 tier matches.
Does GemPages charge a commission on revenue?
Its pricing page caps Build at "Post-purchased upsell volume: $100 per month", lists Optimize as "Unlimited revenue from offer" with "Pay commission as you grow", and lists Enterprise as "No commission fee, forever." GemPages does not publish the rate, so ask before you scale post-purchase offers on Optimize.
Will uninstalling GemPages leave code in my Shopify theme?
Reviewers report it. One App Store reviewer wrote in April 2024 that the app "INSTALLS CODE AND DOES NOT GET REMOVED WHEN YOU UNINSTALL THE APP." Nobody has published a measurement either way, and 96% of the 4,203 reviews on the listing are five-star. Duplicate your theme before you uninstall any page builder, then check the code after.
Which GemPages alternative works outside Shopify?
Two. Shogun supports Shopify and BigCommerce. Landra publishes to a connected Shopify store, a hosted Landra URL or an HTML export, so the page is not bound to one storefront platform. Every other tool here is Shopify only.
